JOB SUMMARIES:
The Registered Nurse - Acute & Ambulatory Care is a regulated member of the health care team who uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation), critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills, in keeping with the standards, and scope of nursing practice set by the Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU) and the policies, protocols, and guidelines of the Hay River Health & Social Services Authority, to provide quality nursing care to all clients, families, groups, communities and populations across the lifespan in all practice settings. The RN is a generalist who provides nursing care to clients with acute, emergency, surgical, post-operative recovery, maternity/newborn and palliative care needs. Salary: Range 16, $103,818 to $124,020 ($53.24 to $63.60/hour)
The Registered Nurse- Dialysis is a member of the nursing team who provides direct nursing care to inpatients and outpatients receiving treatment for renal disease (ie. hemodialysis, change an artificial kidney, etc.) as well as counseling and educating those at risk. A specialist/physician is not always readily available. When necessary, the RN, Dialysis will contact the Clinical Coordinator NWT Program, specialists, southern hospitals and/or transplant labs to address out of the ordinary complications (may be done via telehealth technology). As a result, the RN, Dialysis independently makes day-to-day decisions regarding individual nursing care plans based on standing orders. The RN, Dialysis may be responsible for multiple clients at any one time, using sound judgement to provide advanced care through independent nursing interventions and standing orders from the physician. When changes in the client condition are detected (ie. vital sign, abnormal lab results, pulmonary edema, etc. ) the RN, Dialysis may adjust the treatment accordingly. The Registered Nurse- Home Care provides comprehensive, quality nursing care to clients of all ages and their families in the clients’ home. The overall result expected is cost-effective client-centered nursing care focusing on restoring and maintaining the health of clients after acute illness, injury, or surgery. Furthermore, the purpose of this position is to protect and restore health of clients after acute illness, injury, or surgery; to monitor and maintain health of clients with chronic illness; to provide palliative care and to coordinate appropriate community-based services for clients. Salary: Range 16, $103,818 to $124,020 ($53.24 to $63.60/hour)
The Registered Nurse- Medical Surgical reports to the Manager, Acute & Ambulatory with clinical direction available from the Patient Care Coordinator during regular working hours. Dialysis care and treatment is provided to clients under the technical direction of the Dialysis Clinical Coordinator. The incumbent works in collaboration with other members of the Acute/Ambulatory team, physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, counsellors, rehabilitation therapists and other health professionals to identify and meet the health care needs of clients in a culturally sensitive environment. Salary: Range 17, $108,673 to $129,792 ($55.73 to $66.56/hour)
The Community Health Outreach Nurse has a critical role in reducing risk of overdose by supporting people who use substances and people with substance use disorders by connecting them with referral centers, including treatment and the care they need. Promoting recovery, safety and harm reduction strategies, the Outreach Nurse improves patient care and support. Salary: Range 17, $108,673 to $129,792 ($55.73 to $66.56/hour)
The Community Health Supervisor provides day to day leadership and direction to the Community Health and Community Health Enhancement Programs with established HRHSSA, Regional, Territorial and Professional nursing standards and policies. The overall result expected is client-centered care delivered in a holistic approach to prevent and reduce the incidence of communicable disease, to restore and maintain the health of clients, to assist clients to achieve and maintain person independence, to encourage healthy lifestyle choices and promote community wellness. Salary: Range 17, $108,673 to $129,792 ($55.73 to $66.56/hour)
Requirements
This level of knowledge is commonly acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing from an approved school of nursing. Current registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANN) or ability to attain such registration.
